Corporate Body Bag

I signed the petition to amend the constitution giving "rights" to people and getting money, and corporate power out of our democracy!  It felt really good.  Thinking people all over the world know it's the only thing that will save this nation from itself.  One more human to stand against such a overwhelming machine.

I emailed my senator to express my position  to him, I had to try to convince him, and at least make sure I was counted among the voters that want justice and truth to be the motto of Washington instead of deceit and greed.  When you send a letter with that kind of message to a red state, right wing, red neck, self-righteous, indignant politician, however, you can probably guess where it will end up.  I sent it anyway, because I started thinking; "He is supposed to listen to me".  "He is supposed to work for me".  It's juvenile maybe I don't know, but have you ever known a thing, and that thing was so true, so profound, and right that you had to share it?  So, you told everyone that would listen. Are you still amazed, and a little pissed, that maybe one of your friends just didn't get it?  With the brilliance of your discovery staring them right in the face, they just wanted to go to the game?
He wrote back! I was amazed, and a little paranoid, but he wrote back in very eloquent and statesmanlike prose.  He used a lot of literary acreage to basically try to tell me how much the Citizens United Decision and subsequent cases will protect "Americans" first amendment rights, and give every citizen a voice in government!  I really think the intent was to make me believe that he was right.  To instill in me the respect for the wisdom of his office that I apparently lacked, by supporting the constitution by signing the petition.

I thought about his words, and what he represents in government.  I sat down and wrote him back.  I wrote "Senator,  your eloquent explanation of the inherent worth in having corporate entities, and wealthy constituents exercise the same rights of every American citizen is enlightening, but leaves me with one, insurmountable question.  I understand the fiduciary responsibility some politicians have with their lobbies, and donors.  It's a testament to your ethic and perseverance that you have served in Washington so long. Why do you want our nation to continue in this decline?

You asked, regarding corporate person hood, if I felt corporations were not entitled to these rights now, then when would they have the same voice as other Americans?  That should be simple Senator.  They should, without debate,  become endowed with human rights when a corporation, or it's first born son comes home from war in a body bag."
